Virtual Driver is an iPhone / iPad / macOS app.
For a selected route, it shows the full path of the drive, marks dangerous spots along the road, and reminds you about them during the driving simulation.
It was mainly designed as an exercise in using different APIs — maps are from Apple, road images come from Google Street View (I also tested Mapillary), and POI data is from OpenStreetMap and Azure Maps APIs.
Codex handled every API easily, without even pointing to the docs — we just agreed on usage modes, throttling, cache policy, etc.
Working with POI browsing needed a few tries, and there was some fun experimenting with algorithms, of course.
I checked — there are some similar apps (not exactly the same though), so I’m not sure if I’ll publish it to the App Store.
Anyway, we had my little divertimento coding it. 😄
